RAJA JI NATIONAL PARK

Rajaji National Park is situated along the hills and foothills of Shiwalik ranges in the Himalayan foothills and represents the Shiwalik eco-system. On the map it is located between Haridwar (Latitude 290 56’ 40”) and Dehradun (Latitude 300 20’ North) and 790 80’ E Longitude (Dehradun 780 01’ 15” E (Ramgarh), Chillawali- 770 54’ 30” East). Rajaji National Park is distinct for its pristine scenic beauty and rich bio- diversity. A paradise for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts, the wildlife of the park is blessed with elephants, tigers, leopards, deer and ghorals as its best known life forms.

This national park is spread over an area of 820.42 sq Kms., Rajaji is a magni- ficient ecosystem nestled in the Shivalik ranges and the beginning of the vast Indo – Gangetic plains, thus representing vegetationof several distinct zones and forest types like Sal forests, Reverine forests, Board –leaved mixed forests, Scrubland and grassy. It posses as many as 23 species of mammals and 315 birds species. The abundance of nature’s bounties heaped in and around this park, are bound to attract a large number of wildlife conservationists, nature lovers and eco-friends to visit this most breathtaking wilderness area. Rajaji National Park is accessible from many directions by road, rail and air. Bus services and overnight trains are available for Dehradun and Haridwar from Delhi and Lucknow. It is very well connected by road from Saharanpur which in turn is very well connected by rail to Delhi, Lucknow, Amritsar, Jammu Tawi and Calcutta. Jolly Grant Airport which is only a few kilometers away from the Northern Boundary of the Park has a daily 50 minutes flight from Delhi.

Climate
Three distinct seasons; winter, summer and rainy.

Accommodation & Facilities
Rajaji National park takes pride in offering its guests a peaceful and tranquil heaven. There are 10 Forest Rest Houses, where visitors can stay to enjoy the beauty of splendour of the park. Each Forest Rest House is adequately furnished for a comfortable stay.

Fauna
Several important herbivores like Asian elephants, spotted deer, sambhar, barking Deer, goral, blue bull (Neel Gai), hog deer, wild boar, Rhesus monkey and common langur occur in the park. Among the important carnivores areTiger and Leopard, the smaller carnivores as copredators are Leopard cat, Jungle cat , Civet cat and Yellow Throated Martin. Besides, other mammals like hyaena, jackal and bengal fox are not an uncommon sight and work as scavangers in the park. In all 49 species of mammals belonging to 42 genera, in 21 families and nine orders have been recorded. According to census done in 1999 there are 445 elephants, 32 tigers and 177 leopards, besides thousands of other wild animals in the park. 315 species of birds are reported to occur in the park. Birds like ducks, teals, cormorants, egrets, lapwing, pond herons, pea fowl, jungle fowl, various species of partridges and pheasants, drongo, crows, owlets and nightjars, birds of prey, etc, are quite common. Twenty eight species of snakes, 12 species of turtles & tortoises and 9 species of lizards among Reptilia are being recorded from the park.

As many as 49 species of fish fauna have been recorded from from the wetlands of the Park, including a small loach Nemacheilus doonensis as new to the park, and another species Berilius dimorphicus as new to science(ZSI,1995) . The butterfly fauna of the Park is very rich and repersented by as many as 60 species under eight families, out of the known nine families of the Butterflies known from the adjoining ares chiefly Garhwal And Kumaon hills of the Himalaya.

RAJA JI NATIONAL PARK TOUR ITINERARY

Day 01 : Stay at Junglee Resort , bonfire with dinner 

Day 02: Early breakfast and take packed lunch , Enjoy open jeep safari to the Rajaji National Park with a local naturalist , Enjoy tiger tracking, Bird watching , Photography , Return to Junglee Resort , Have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 03: Have fun of jungle drive to Rishikesh, spend the day at Rishikesh ,enjoy sightseeing of Lakshman Jhula , Ram Jhula, Swarg Ashram & other sightseeing places , Return back to Junglee resort have dinner and overnight stay 

Day 04:  Picnic lunch in forests near stream , Enjoy Hi Tea in forests, See beauty of sunset looking over the jungle and listening to the songs of the jungle , short walk , excellent views and great opportunities for bird watching and chances of seeing wild animals & birds.

Day 05: Visit Haridwar , Onway enjoy visiting chila hydro power plant , Visit Temples, and enjoy evening Ganga Aarti at Har ki Pauri , Return back to Junglee Resort have dinner and overnight stay 

Day 06 :  After Breakfast, check out from Resort and drive back to Delhi or Haridwar Railway Station  with happy memories. 

 

How to reach
Air
Jolly Grant, Dehradun is the nearest airport from the national park. 
Rail
Nearest railhead is situated at Haridwar/Rishikesh. 
Road
Rajaji National Park is accessible from many directions by road, rail and air. Bus services and overnight trains are available for Dehradun and Haridwar from Delhi and Lucknow. From Delhi-231 kms. (Mohand Gate No.2) From Lucknow - 509 kms. (Ranipur Gate no.4).

GENERAL RULES

Tourist is advised is not to carry any precious items while in tour.

Tourist can enroll his/her names for the tours by paying initial advance. The balance amount must reach Delhi Office at least 5 days before scheduled departure of the tour without waiting for reminder from our side. If the full amount is not paid in the time the company reserves the right to cancel the bookings with consequent loss of deposit and apply the cancellation charges.

Tourist travel at their own risk. Neither the tour operator nor their representative or staff accept any liability or responsibility for an kind of risk, theft, delay, damages, loss, injury, accident, death etc. during their tour howsoever it might have caused.

The operator has also right to cancel at any time any or all the tours announced without assigning any reason whatsoever. In such case the operator's responsibility will be only to refund the amount by such passengers, without any compensation whatsoever.

The hotels are subject to change without prior notice.

The seats in the bus are allotted on "first comr first serverd basis" at the time of booking of the tour.

If there is any loss or damage by any passengers to the property of the hotel, bus, tour, operator or any other concerned parties or person during the tour then such passengers have to compensate the concerned parties or person for the same immediately.

During sightseeing we will take the bus /car up to the point it is allowed or can be taken. There offer if any vehicle or other arrangements are to be made then the expenses should be paid by the passengers only.

Timings mentioned in the itinerary for the bus/car tour are only estimated time for the sake of knowledge. There are always chances of delay in arrival at the destination due to various reasons.

Refunds, if any, will be given after a periods of ten days from the date of claim. Refunds will be paid only by cheque and only against receipts.

Due to unavoidable circumstanmces, if there is aloes in the stay of hotel or sightseeing or missed then no refund will be granted to the passengers in this respect.

If any passengers decide to break their journey after commencement of the tour, they can do so, but no refund for the balance periods of the tour will be granted to them and their all onwards journey arrangements will be the sole responsibility of such passengers only.
